Update: One Billionth Acre of Biotech Crops Has Been Planted
Remember how McDonalds used to boast beneath the Golden Arches about how many billions of hamburgers it had sold? Well, its time for agricultural biotechnology to update their sign. Sometime during the early days of May 2005, a farmer somewhere in the world will plant the 1 billionth acre of genetically enhanced crops. And sometime this fall – probably early September 2005 – that billionth acre will be harvested!
