A robot designed to crawl through the human gut by mimicking the wriggling motion of an undersea worm has been developed by European scientists. It could one day help doctors diagnose disease by carrying tiny cameras through patients' bodies.
A video shows the first prototype inching through a section of pig gut using two pairs of paddles. Another video shows a more complex prototype with multiple paddles and an undulating body, wriggling over sand, which simulates the slippery conditions found in the gut.
