Hubble finds new Dark Matter Rings in Cluster Galaxy.
2007
New Dark Matter Rings found in Cluster Galaxy. It is believed that the cluster formed during a collision between two massive galaxy clusters. What makes this finding extraordinary is that it is the first strong evidence of dark matter. This Hubble composite image shows the ring of dark matter in the galaxy cluster Cl 0024+17. The ring-like structure is evident in the blue map of the cluster's dark matter distribution.
